Lukas Simonis, experimental guitarist and electronic improviser from the Netherlands, who also heads up the legendary Worm project in Rotterdam, & is Joyce Hinterding’s Cousin! Here in Australia for a tour of the east coast including the Melbourne’s International Biennale of Exploratory Music 2008, the NowNow and MONO: Expansive Sonic Environments, Intersecting Audiospheres, at the IMA Brisbane. Lukas has his roots as an instrumentalist and musical ‘activist’ in the industrial music and noise rock of the Eighties ( Throbbing Gristle, the Residents, Pere Ubu, Sonic Youth and beyond). Being a part of the Rotterdam jazzbunker scene (a collective that consisted of heavy drug induced punk rockers, freejazzers, early electronic musicians and pre-postrock combos), he discovered the delimited world of improvisation. In the past year he has started to play solo concerts in response to the positive reception for his first solo album, STOTS.

The NOW now - A film by Ali Russell(16 mins) - A short documentary on the beginnings and evolution of the NOW now festival. Shot on super-8 and HDV in national parks, abandoned army bunkers and inner-city warehouses. Includes performances, rehearsals and recording sessions featuring various NOW now musicians including the Splinter Orchestra, and includes interviews with Clare Cooper, Clayton Thomas and Jim Denley.
