Breaking In: The Autohoare
July 13th, 2009
On Saturday evening July 18th we will be launching The Autohoare, a unique work of sound sculpture and live electronica performance by Matthew Hoare.
The Autohoare is an orchestra of machines, conducted and controlled by their creator Matthew Hoare.
The star performer is the Thwopper, a tall column of aluminium with an intimidating spinning blade that produces sound sequenced by an array of programmed microcontrollers.
Along with the Thwopper, Matthew has constructed a team of machines that each produce a raw electronic tone, providing a driving rhythmic audiovisual performance. After completing a bachelor of music in composition at The Sydney Conservatorium Of Music, Matthew has been undertaking postgraduate research at The Sydney College Of The Arts.
Come and experience this kinetic musical performance as Matt breaks in The Thwopper for its first live performance.
