Inspired by the “Ruined Piano Convergence” at the 2005 Totally Huge New Music Festival Tasmania’s Ten Days on the Island Festival has commissioned WA composer Ross Bolleter to undertake a new project for this year’s Festival. Ross has been scouring the apple isle for the past few months uncovering Ruined Pianos and their fascinating stories. Regional presentations as part of the Festival culminate in an exhibition and performances in Hobart 27th March - 5th May.

Festival. The revolution didn’t die. Art and music inspire. Harrowing delight. Challenge. Beauty. The love child of Salamanca arts centre, Mona, Brian Ritchie and the Tasmanian government. Mona reveals. Hobart is changing, join the movement. The assault of sight and sound begins with the zen circus, stalwarts of the Italian underground, headlining a free event on the Salamanca lawns and culminates with the dark legend of Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds.
