BOUNDARY SONGS

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Boundary Songs is a series of micro-sound walks in the Redfern area. These mixtures of music, sound design and spoken word are recreations of moments in the lives of local residents. The stories on each walk interlink, like a series of short films with no screens, where the world around you becomes a cinema. Presented by Duncan Speakman (UK).

TELEPATHY

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Telepathy is an installation that seeks to reboot the psyche, go in search of a few moments of lucidity and activate other processes within the mind that function better without the ‘noise’. The collaborative works of David Haines and Joyce Hinterding often gather energy. This one - using the structure of an anachoic chamber - pushes the energy away. Within this space Haines and Hinterding explore the possibility of locating an inner
bodily shaped electrical field that is far gentler and at the same time, incredibly complex.

REMINDER: Electrofringe 2008

Tuesday, September 30th, 2008

Electrofringe 2008, a festival of electronic arts and culture, has a partial focus on the future past 2020 with international discussion on “possible futures for community building” (the pros, cons, good, bad, ugly, things that will both help and hinder) incorporating points from web 2.0 and social networking through to new ways of grass roots development given our very connected and still disjointed lives between continents.

The festival’s eleventh year will be held over five days from 2nd - 6th of October 2008. The program presents workshops, panel discussions, masterclasses, presentations, exhibitions and screenings. ANAT’s embracing sound program manager Sarah Last will be presenting on the panel, Together for the Foreseeable Future with fellow guests Alessandro Ludovico (Bari, Italy), Xtine Burrough (Los Angeles, USA), John Jacobs (Sydney) and Somaya Langley (Sydney/Berlin, Germany) on Friday 3rd October, 10:00am - 11:30am. http://www.electrofringe.net/
