SoundLAB call for submissions

Friday, November 14th, 2008

In 2004, SoundLAB was launched as a corporate part of the global networking project [R][R][F]200x—>XP on the occasion of BEAP - Biennale of Electronic Art Perth/Australia 2004. Edition IV was launched in October
2006 under the title “memoryscapes” - incorporating 144 artists and 235 soundart pieces dealing with “memory and identity” in many different ways.

For its 6th edition to be launched in March 2009, SoundLAB would like to demonstrate the power of sound as a tool for artistic creations, and is therefore looking for soundart works, or more precise, sound compositions that represent a real challenge for human imagination.

Extended Deadline: 31 December

Renew Newcastle expressions of interest

Friday, November 14th, 2008

Renew Newcastle has been established to find short and medium term uses for buildings in Newcastle’s CBD that are currently vacant, disused, or awaiting redevelopment. Renew Newcastle aims to find artists, cultural
projects and community groups to use and maintain these buildings until they become commercially viable or are redeveloped. Renew Newcastle is not set up to manage long term uses, own properties or permanently develop sites but to generate activity in buildings until that future long term activity happens.

Renew Newcastle is currently calling for expressions of interest to be part of our first group of pilot projects. If you want to be part of this exciting initiative now is the time to let us know! We are keen to hear from artists, artisans, craftspeople, or community groups who may have a good idea for a project that could take place in the vacant shop fronts and commercial spaces in Newcastle’s CBD.
