Golden Fur - New Music Project
August 5th, 2009
Young classical/experimental adventurers Golden Fur continue to forge an exciting and intrepid musical path with their new music project.
The next Golden Fur concert at the Clifton Creative Arts Centre (304 Church St, Richmond) on Saturday August 8th will be a vivid evening of music, visuals and movement, featuring rarely performed works by cult Greek avant garde composer, Jani Christou and acclaimed Australian modernist composer, Liza Lim. Golden Fur will also perform the world premiere of a new work by Australian composer Alexander Garsden with video by Alifeleti Brown and Australian premieres of works by Alvin Lucier (USA), Thomas Meadowcroft (GERMANY) and Sam Hayden (UK).
Golden Fur have quickly made a name for themselves as a vibrant new ensemble who fearlessly cross musical boundaries to create compelling and complex yet inclusive concert experiences. The upcoming Golden Fur concert will be a visceral, colourful and energetic experience which engages the audience to interact with the performance space with simultaneous layers of music, movement, theatre and film.
Golden Fur’s quest is to bring a new sonic palette to chamber music, creating a dialogue with the language of experimental music as well as that of improvisation, theatre and visual art. Golden Fur engages with contemporary classical music in youthfully iconoclastic style, adding volume and volatility by means of built instruments, electronics, amplification and computers. The Clifton Arts Centre concert will explore different approaches to theatre, through dramatic performance art, film, interactive staging, and complexist musical choreography, rousing a more dramatic outcome in contrast to the more introspective mood of previous Golden Fur concerts.
