Applications for the third round of Sound Travellers have been announced.  Closing date 21st September 2009 for touring in 2010.

Sound Travellers provides grants to Australian artists for National touring in the following genres of new music for travel and marketing costs.

The program also aims to develop viable touring opportunities for musicians/sound artists performing sound art/electronica, new jazz/improvisation and contemporary classical music through promoting audience access, developing networks and taking on board good ideas that we can facilitate with our resources.

What genres do you accept?
Applications are only accepted for sound art/electronica, new jazz/improvisation and contemporary classical music.

Who can apply?
Australian residents.

Preference is given to performers/ensembles/managers with touring experience.

Individuals and unincorporated groups are also welcome to apply.  However an ABN number will be required for payment if the grant application is successful.fund triennially funded arts organizations.

What does Sound Travellers fund?
Our funding covers travel costs and/or assistance with marketing/publicity.

We do not pay artist’s fees or for venue hire.

Can Sound Travellers help me with marketing my tour?
Marketing/publicity may be provided as part of the grant so it is important that the application includes an outline of the marketing/publicity strategies and how they affect the tour.

Sound Travellers also provides national publicity/marketing support as a supplement to the artist’s specific plans.

Can Sound Travellers fund multiple years?
Assistance is provided on a one-off basis with no commitment to further funding.

What is the maximum amount I can apply for?

Limited funding is available. Applications over $5000 should be discussed with the Director Joanne Kee.  As this role is only part time please be patient.  Please email your contact details and query to jkee@soundtravellers.com.au

What about tours in 2011?
Currently this initiative is only funded until the end of 2010.
